Studio Etiquette

If you’ve never been to a meditation and yoga studio before, here’s how you can comfortably feel at home

  • When you enter, remove your shoes and hang your jacket in the designated area near the front door

  • Find a space for yourself to lay out your mat or pillow

  • If your session requires props of any sort, your instructor will have them placed on their mat so you can easily identify which items you need to retrieve for yourself

  • There is a gender-neutral washroom in the space

  • You should bring a water bottle

  • Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing that will not restrict any of your movements

  • Always listen to your body by only doing what feels right, no one knows you better than you

  • Always ask your instructor for assistance if/when you need it

  • Upon occasion, your instructor may ask if you’re okay with hands-on adjustment. Please indicate if this is something you’re not comfortable with. “No” is a perfectly acceptable response.

  • Your instructor is always available at the end of your class if you have any questions

  • Joann is always available for discussion or feedback, email is best. 586yoga@gmail.com
